Your resume tells a story of why you are the best; at least it should. What makes you the beat?  Is it your skills? Is it your education? Is it your management style? Whatever you believe makes you the best your resume should give that same feeling.

Network with others

Not all jobs are published out to the rest of the world. Some of the most rewarding job opportunities are kept secret. Always keep an eye out for the types of chances. It may come in the form of a causual conversation with someone you know or their friend.

Ask Questions

On the job ask questions with the intent to learn something new. When you feel that you've asked all the questions that you possibly can it may be time to explore a new opportunity.

Linkedin Endorsement Learning

Use LinkedIn endorsements to understand how people see you. Endorsements truly give you an idea of what people believe you do currently or in the past when they worked with you. If you aren't getting the type of LinkedIn endorsements that you would like it's important for you to re-evaluate your internal communications to reflect what you want to be known for.

Education Vs. No Education

If you have a degree and the job requires it make sure that you have it towards the top. Especially if your degree is in the same field as the job.

If you don't have a degree what you need to do is make sure your experience reflects that you meet the job qualifications. Get rid of anything on your resume that doesn't show you can do the job you are applying for.

Know when to let go

There are times when you need to understand what is important and what's not. Don't waist your time worrying about small things that don't make a difference. Life will always be full of issues learn to see past the things that are just silly and deserve no recognition.

Learn something new

People who get left behind are the ones who don't keep their skills current. You still don't know how to do a PowerPoint presentation? You've already been skipped over and left behind.
