Your resume tells a story of why you are the best; at least it should. What makes you the beat?  Is it your skills? Is it your education? Is it your management style? Whatever you believe makes you the best your resume should give that same feeling.

Network with others

Not all jobs are published out to the rest of the world. Some of the most rewarding job opportunities are kept secret. Always keep an eye out for the types of chances. It may come in the form of a causual conversation with someone you know or their friend.

Ask Questions

On the job ask questions with the intent to learn something new. When you feel that you've asked all the questions that you possibly can it may be time to explore a new opportunity.

Linkedin Endorsement Learning

Use LinkedIn endorsements to understand how people see you. Endorsements truly give you an idea of what people believe you do currently or in the past when they worked with you. If you aren't getting the type of LinkedIn endorsements that you would like it's important for you to re-evaluate your internal communications to reflect what you want to be known for.

Education Vs. No Education

If you have a degree and the job requires it make sure that you have it towards the top. Especially if your degree is in the same field as the job.

If you don't have a degree what you need to do is make sure your experience reflects that you meet the job qualifications. Get rid of anything on your resume that doesn't show you can do the job you are applying for.

Know when to let go

There are times when you need to understand what is important and what's not. Don't waist your time worrying about small things that don't make a difference. Life will always be full of issues learn to see past the things that are just silly and deserve no recognition.

Learn something new

People who get left behind are the ones who don't keep their skills current. You still don't know how to do a PowerPoint presentation? You've already been skipped over and left behind.

Facebook Break

It's okay not to post your entire life on social networks such as Facebook. Can you take a week away from your favorite social network and be okay?

Being the loudest doesn't make you right

Just because you think the louder you talk the more you get your way. When you get your way it doesn't mean that you are right. It means that people are annoyed and don't want to deal with you.

Don't let your cell phone interrupt

When you are meeting with your friends or family don't let your cell phone consume you. Take a couple of minutes and put your cell phone aside. If it's difficult for you to do leave it in your car while you are visiting others. It's best to have all of your attention pointed towards the people who are physically in front of you.

Don't be a know it all

It's true that no one likes a person who thinks they know everything. Even if they don't say it to your face they truly can't stand you.

Be prompt

Whether you are working from home or an  office be consistent in your work hours. Be early if you work in the mornings instead of consistently being late. You want to show that you are dependable.

Learn to work with many

To find success in your chosen field you will have to work with many different types. Learn to be open minded and be willing to help.

Relationships

The people that you hang out with reflect on people's opinion of you; whether it's true or not.

Listen Well

Being a good listener will get you further than you could imagine. Those who only talk and fail to listen will miss out on key moments. A good listener can pick up on opportunities that others miss.

Shoes tell a story

Keep your shoes looking nice, they can tell a lot about you. If they are running shoes they will let the world know if you exercise or are a couch potato. Dress shoes that are warped will tell the world that you only have one pair of good shoes.

The person who you meet today could be your boss

Remember to be courteous at all times. The person who you lose your temper with could be your future boss at some point.

Guys take out your earing

An easy win for guys is to remove their earing if they are going to an interview. Earrings on guys have been around for years but seem to still pose as a threat in business culture.

Watches are forms of elegance

A time piece is a good way to add sophistication and elegance to your dress. A watch is a way to suggest that you know how to be on time. It's a small way to provide confidence to yourself if you are struggling. If needed you can tape a small word of encouragement to the backside of your watch that only you can see.

Keep your tattoos simple

Unless you are in the NBA or a rock star keep tattoos in a place where they can be easily hidden. Even though tattoos are more accepted you are still representing the company that you will be working for. The wrong type of tattoo could keep you from receiving or keeping your job.

Your Style

Your style tells a lot about who you are. Your style can also play a part in what type of job you'll be able to obtain. Are you the dressy type or t-shirt and jeans make you feel at home? Clothes are important to your financial success.

Picture Cleanup

What about those pictures on Instagram and Facebook? Yeap, they will show up in Google searches as well. Don't let that crazy picture from last night be the first thing everyone sees when searching your name.

Be Remembered

Build your resume to focus on your strengths. Only include the things that show how strong and capable you are. Take a risk and step away from making your resume exactly the way it's laid out in a Microsoft Word template. No copying templates from the Internet. There's a good chance that other resume submissions will follow the same template, the reviewer will not be impressed.

This is the time to be remembered, your resume is your blue print. It showcases what you can bring to an organization. Your resume is what can set you apart from everyone else. Your education isn't enough anymore, there has to be something more you can show.

Control what shows in a search engine

What's the first thing that shows if you type your name in a search engine? Is it your face book page? What information is shown on the page thay comes up? Are there any pictures that could keep you from getting the interview for your dream job?

You want to clean up anything that could put your brand reputation at risk. A lot of pictures of you drinking with friends doesn't look good to a potential employer. Even though it will get you tons of points with your friends it will hurt your chances at that cool job.

Finding a job has changed because of online platforms like LinkedIn. Is LinkedIn truly your only option for finding the job you are looking for?

Blogging could secretly be the tool that you need to get ahead of your competition. You need a place where you can display your work to get the interview. If people can see what you are about ahead of time you'll have an advantage. Resumes are only descriptions of what you perceive you are capable of; you need to supply proof.
