LinkedIn Profile

When building your LinkedIn profile only list job experiences that will help you to obtain the position that you are currently in the market for.   Your experiences should paint the picture of why you would be the best candidate to recommend for a position.  Experiences should be strong enough to stand alone to fulfill any requirement that a potential employer is looking for.

The best way to use your LinkedIn profile is as a building block for people in your network to remember your credentials or skills.  You may go weeks or months without anyone giving you feedback on your profile but trust me, it's being looked at.  You are trying to be remembered at the right time for the right job.

Hard to fill positions are what you are trying to snag when creating a LinkedIn profile.  Employers or employees of companies will review your LinkedIn profile trying to see if you are the perfect candidate.  It could be possible that you aren't even looking for a new job but if your profile shows that you meet the requirements a recruiter will contact you.

LinkedIn profiles are a good place to review other candidates who already have the job you are wanting.  Look at their job history and figure out if you can follow the same path.  Maybe you can easily transition into one of the prior jobs they had before obtaining the ideal job.  If you have a connection to the person get an introduction and see if they have any recommendations.
